Catching Up
A lot has happened in the last few weeks. We completed a research project with the help of the Harding Group, we've had a number of programs at the library, we welcomed Maggie Kate to the world, we started a bible study at the library on Tuesday nights and we went to Lima for a few days. Here is what we have going on now that you can be praying about:
- We will be beginning the urban garden project soon. Currently we are locating resources and preparing our examples for 3-4 planned workshops over urban gardening.
- There is a new loan available for you to consider! Yenny, Manuela's sister, is the owner/operator of a bodega in the southern district of the city, Socabaya. She has approached us for help with stocking her store and expanding her business. We encourage you to consider helping fund this loan.
- Another great opportunity is the Living Water project. We will be helping this new community obtain the items they need to build a community repository for drinkable water. Currently this community has access only to unsanitary run-off streams. Consider whether you would be interested in helping this community.
As you can see our relationship with Manuela has afforded us many opportunities of service here in Arequipa. The chance to help her new community build their repository is especially meaningful to us because we are not only helping provide a base need but also through this gift we'll be forming relationships that will span years. Her community has already expressed interest in having us over for lunch, just to get to know us, and some have even asked if we would have bible studies with them. I hope you can take part in some of these projects but above all I hope you are praying for these people who find themselves in such hard life situations yet are joyful and hopeful for the future.
