How to Give

So you want to partner with us to help the poor of Arequipa?
1. On this page you will find a listing of projects and needs. Each project's article features the option to add a "unit" of that project to Your Cart (on the right side of this page).
2. Once you have added the project(s) that you want to support to Your Cart, click "Show Cart" at the bottom of Your Cart.
3. Make a decision about the number of each unit you want. ICDU's projects are broken into $25 units, but you can buy as many as you want of any given unit. Make sure to click "Change" after updating the number of units.
4. When you are ready, click "Order" and review your order. Then click "Confirm." Once you enter your name, email address, and click "Confirm" again, your order is placed in our system and an email to you is generated confirming your order.
5. But you must click on the Paypal button at the bottom of the screen in order to finish the transaction. You will be redirected to Paypal's website where you will have the option to pay with your Paypal account or your credit card (also through Paypal). The total of your ICDU order will be listed at the top of the Paypal screen. The order is already linked to their system, and all you have to do is follow Paypal's instructions to finish the process.

Bibliotecas Vivas
Bibliotecas Vivas means "Living Libraries." In cooperation with grassroots organizations within the communities of Alto Selva Alegre, ICDU brings together various resources in order to initiate sustainable libraries that can both foster literacy and orient community members to the subject matter of books selected to meet needs identified by the community members themseves.

Aside from specific developmental projects, ICDU has operating costs like any organization. For example, every purchase of an ICDU support product costs us Paypal transaction fees. You can help with these by purchasing one or more units of General Support.

Huertos Urbanos
Huertos Urbanos means "Urban Gardens." Those community members who take responsibiilty for the Bibliotecas Vivas fostered by ICDU will be given the chance to learn about intensive organic gardening with limited resources. ICDU will provide them seeds and other basics in addition to conducting seminars led by gardening experts.
